The Hero is Defeated

Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages

2001 · Game Boy Color

Called into the Triforce's chamber at Hyrule Castle, Link is carried to Holodrum, where General Onox kidnaps the dancer Din, secretly the Oracle of Seasons. The seasons fall into chaos. In Labrynna, the sorceress Veran uses Impa to reach Nayru, the Oracle of Ages, possesses her and travels into the past. In each land the Maku Tree guides Link as he gathers eight Essences, of Nature in Holodrum and of Time in Labrynna.

Din and Nayru, along with Farore, who appears in both games, share their names with the three goddesses who made the world and left the Triforce. Behind Onox and Veran are Koume and Kotake, the witches Twinrova who raised Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time. They want to bring Ganon back. The two games can be linked. The linked story brings in Princess Zelda.

Hyrule Historia put the Oracle games between A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening, with the same Link in all three. Nintendo's current timeline puts them after Link's Awakening. Its chronicle lists Ganon's revival among their events.
