Link's Awakening

AAfter A Link to the Past, Link leaves Hyrule on a journey of training. On his way home his boat is wrecked in a storm. He wakes on Koholint Island in the house of Marin, a girl who looks like Princess Zelda and sings the Ballad of the Wind Fish. An owl tells him the only way off the island is to gather the eight Instruments of the Sirens and wake the Wind Fish, asleep in a giant egg on Mt. Tamaranch.

Koholint has no Triforce, no Princess Zelda and no Ganon. The island's people say there is nothing beyond the sea. The monsters Link fights in its dungeons are Nightmares that do not want the Wind Fish to wake.

It sits in the fallen hero branch after A Link to the Past. Nintendo's current timeline puts it before the Oracle games; Hyrule Historia had it after them. Hyrule Historia treats its hero as the Link of A Link to the Past.
