Era of Myth to the Hero of Time
Skyward Sword
2011 · Wii
Before Skyward Sword, the Demon King Demise made war on the land to take the Triforce. The goddess Hylia lifted the surviving people above a barrier of clouds on a piece of land later called Skyloft, sealed Demise away and hid the Triforce in the sky. Generations later, Link, a student at Skyloft's Knight Academy, loses his childhood friend Zelda to a dark tornado and follows her down to the Surface, a land no one on Skyloft has seen.
On the Surface Link is guided by Fi, the spirit of the Goddess Sword. Ghirahim, a demon lord who wants Zelda for his master, opposes him. Zelda is protected by Impa, one of the Sheikah, a clan sworn to serve the goddess. Nintendo's chronicle lists Hylia's return as Zelda among this era's events, which is why Hyrule's royal line is later said to carry the goddess's blood.
Several things that recur through the series begin here. The Goddess Sword is tempered into the Master Sword. The Sealed Temple stands where the Temple of Time will later be built. Hyrule Historia traces the pattern of a hero, a princess and an evil that keeps coming back to a curse Demise lays at the end of the game.
Afterward the people of Skyloft settle the Surface, the land that becomes Hyrule.
